Too busy to think enough to type

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 16-07-2009

As things are starting to slow down outside of work as things at work pick up. Talk about busy.

I have noticed that I can’t see the lame plurals in the code though. It’s like my mind doesn’t care for trailing ‘s’,  it just ignores them. So when I’m trying to debug @object and @objects and :thing and :things just don’t stand out at all…which leads to 4 hours of head to desk debugging before I nabbed @qrevolution to tell me how blind I am, even though @qrevolution has as much mad work as I do at the moment.  Otherwise my love/hate relationship with ruby/rails continues.  (It does magic, but …only when it wants too.)

I am still baffled as to how I could have talked about a site and a project that wasn’t mine for an hour with client services (apparently somewhere in my textual babbling on the topic cs gets a better idea of what we can do and what is involved – as well as where we can’t go and the impact to the client).  It seems pretty neat though, if only we had the budget, and the flexible clients to drive what we do a little bit better we would have had great stuff like that already out in the wild.

On a non work note, Roommate #2 has finalllly moved in.  She brought a ton of awesome cooking things.  She’s a vegan though, so unfortunately we can only use them if they won’t be in contact with animal products. A little anal IMHO, since they would be washed, but it’s her stuff, so what she says goes.  As long as the stuff respect is returned I have no problem with it.

Roommate #1 and I are still slugging through NCIS, and now Dexter.

Tomorrow – relaxing orchestral music “A Night in Vienna.” http://www.minnesotaorchestra.org/season/event_detail.cfm?id_event=8090118 (Hopefully he won’t smile at us that creepily.  Srsly, please don’t smile dude.)   Been a long time since I’ve been to a program up here so hopefully it’s great.

Hrm.  What should I wear….

Moving Prep and Spring Cleaning etc

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 29-03-2009

Finally got around to calling the movers this Saturday.  They will be over to make a cost estimate this Wednesday, so I have to/have been cleaning as well as checking our what I can get rid of before I move.  Future roommate #2 stayed over Saturday and was kind enough to flash clean part of the kitchen today.   Got pretty much everything done that I planned to, just have the laundry left!

I also reinstalled windows on the old computer – with space to spare for putting Linux back on it.  I’m going to put PlayOn on it so I can see my local computer files from my 360 to my computer again.  PlayOn – which is delightful if you have a fast enough internet connection to carry the streaming – will pretty much takes over your windows media sharing to your XBox 360.   Very frustrating.

We’ve been watching ‘Shikabane Hime’ on Hulu  - pretty good watch if you have the inclination to pick up an anime series.  In the anime, sometimes when people die they become ‘Shikabane’, sorta undead monsters.  Some of them are bound to monks to become ‘Shikabane Hime’ who help destroy the monster ones.  The series focuses around the younger brother of one of the monks, who keeps getting pulled into things by this mysterious talking (dead!) cat.  It’s not OMG GOOD but it’s kept us entranced through 11 of the episodes – and we are still watching.

Now if only the internet connection didn’t flail and lose our stream it would be great!  Right now watching Future Roommate #2 play guitar (since that is all I have) on the new Guitar Hero World Tour game I picked up when we went to the game store.  Speaking of game stores, there is a new one on Edgewood next to the fast food taco joint – they have miniatures terrain tables.  Current roommate and some Cornellians went out there today to play some.  Lacking in the book area, but they have quite a few board games, card games, and a selection of paints and minis (including starwars ones Mr. $).

Well, I mostly have the blog setup, and even have it cross posting to LJ.  (after realizing that no, I do not in fact, have to edit the php source of the plugin – there is a settings page that makes it all easy like!)

It’s very orange.  Any suggestions on plugins/widgets?  The search on wordpress’ site is pretty dismal.
