Moved to Minneapolis – Pics of the new place!
Posted by | Posted in RealLife | Posted on 06-09-2010
Throughout the end of August I was moving into the new place – no carpets, gas stove, and we are +2 kitties. Downsides – but worth it – no AC (we got window units). And it’s an older building so, electricity is a bit uppity. (Nothing some well placed UPS’ can’t fix for the most part.)
So! Onto the tour!
Day three shenanigans began rather late, since the Archivist and I just couldn’t get up.
Since I wait forever to finish this I can’t remember whats what from my trip I will give anecdotal highlights, and some random images!
Day Two
I managed to not kick the Archivist in the head while I was sleeping. This is quite and accomplishment according to my host. (Sometimes I’m a huge sleep flailer.) We ate some leftover pan-asian food and headed out to try and see the National Archives!
Here is the Archivist – ready to tourist up this joint.
On my furcation (furlough + vacation) during the first week of march, I ran off to Washington D.C. for a long weekend. Since the default wordpress gallery software hates me, and wouldn’t let me make multiple gallery sets, or un-attach already uploaded images, this took a bit longer to put together than expected. There will be later posts with more. >.< Due to some surprise!madness! my host was in a rush to get me from the airport back to her place. She had an unexpected flight to catch to Atlanta for a meeting the next morning. I was whisked through some of Virginia(BROWN road signs? WTF!), across the river and hauled up through a basement to an apartment, where I was pointed to the door keys, and the fridge - with its many takeout menus - and left alone in a strange apartment. This is where I had the joy of letting everyone know I wasn't lost in some random airport in the wrong state via a handy cell phone I just happen to carry with me everywhere.
Here is a lovely view of the basement!
A few more photos from the stack uploaded. Below is the highlights, jump over to deviantart for the rest!

I really don’t know how software devs handle working on the same thing for so long. I’ve been working on this one pieces of a large project at work, and I’ve been practically going cross eyed. Today I was given a bit of a break(a different part had more priority, and needed some extra hands) and got moved over to @qrevolution ‘s section of the project. It was refreshing. Something new. Working on the same thing for so long, it gets harder to keep perspective.
I’m also all ready for the SNOW that is supposed to happen this weekend. Even acquired some snow boots for the first time in years. Before that happens though, anyone know any good places in MN close to the Twin Cities for taking fall photos? Or getting pumpkins? Planning a field trip this weekend.
Also, I’m watching Ghost Hunters right now, and …MEATLOAF is on it. O.o Good show Mr. Loaf.
